HAUTE-COUTURE HOUSES PARTNERING WITH SNEAKER BRANDS

It's another step towards making streetwear the new fashion standard.

TEXTURED SNEAKERS ARE ALREADY MAKING THEIR WAY INTO THE WORLD OF MEN'S FASHION

From corduroy plimsolls to furry suede runners, tactile fabrics are taking over the streetwear sneaker world and we're all for it. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when it all started, but if we had to put money on it, we'd say it started around the launch of the corduroy Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97 in 2018.

PATTERNS AND SNEAKERS 

Following in the footsteps of the trail runners that have occupied the front row of fashion week for the past few seasons, performance running shoes are the latest functional footwear to be embraced by the crowd Brands have created colourful, performance shoes. Sure, you probably won't be running an ultra marathon in these shoes, but it's good to know there's a possibility. 

WHILE THERE ARE NO BRIGHT COLOURS AND FLASHY PATTERNS, DESIGNERS ARE CHOOSING SIMPLE CUTS AND UNDERSTATED PALETTES.

AS RETRO SNEAKERS BEGAN TO GAIN MOMENTUM, BRANDS ALSO BEGAN TO TAKE AN INTEREST.

First of all, the Adidas Stan Smith became the must-have shoe of 2015/16 - even though Stan Smith himself won his last tennis tournament in 1980. We've already mentioned Adidas and New Balance, two brands that have been making classic trainers for a long time. Both brands have embraced the trend and re-released the favourites.

Luxury brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton have created their own sneakers, as have Valentino, Prada and Alexander McQueen. Adidas' partnership with musician and designer Kanye West has allowed it to enter the high-end market as well. The ability to recognise and capitalise on trends has kept classic brands in the streetwear mainstream.
